To increase electric vehicle (EV) charging points & network, mass equipment production, training installers and rapid planning approval shall progress simultaneously.
If batteries for electric vehicles are standardised, then cars can swap batteries at service stations. This will reduce the need for street and other public infrastructures for charging batteries.
For proprietary battery systems, EV dealership should have facilities to swap in new batteries if they sell cars manufactured for such system.
Low cost EV ownership / hire will encourage uptake. So business model of renting batteries should replace ownership. That means separating the cost of buying vehicle from battery. In general, electric vehicle should have lower cost of ownership when there is no need to service fossil fuel engines, thus people will be happier to buy EV when they are cheaper compared to vehicles with diesel/petrol engines.
Manufacturers should be able to lease batteries, then replace them at the end of useful capacity. This will increase their sales of vehicle.
This business model should encourage the R&D of battery recycling when it is commercially viable, for vast numbers of EV.
